Today is World Cancer Day.

World Cancer Day is an international day observed every February 4th to raise awareness about cancer, encourage its prevention, and mobilize action.

What am I going to do today?
Reach out – either personally or via social media – to offer support to all those people I know who are or have been affected by cancer.

Thank primary caregivers, personal support workers, cancer care hospital staff, specialist physicians, volunteers, palliative care staff, and all those who offer kind concern.
Donate to an organization that promotes research, caregiver support, victim advocacy, and/or other cancer-related causes.
Look after my beloved wife Anne, who has been felled by glioblastoma, a particularly aggressive form of brain cancer with a dire prognosis.

Read more testimonials of victims and caregivers:

Continue to write, so as to cope with the verdict that has befallen Anne and our little family and perhaps to inspire or soothe other fellow sufferers.
Here is my poem for today:
World Cancer Day: A Free Verse Tribute
Honouring the Battle, the Bravery, and the Bonds

Unseen, it creeps – this shadow, this thief –
Stealing laughter from kitchen tables,
Casting a long hush across hopeful mornings.
Yet in sterile rooms, a fierce chorus rises:
Hands clasped, voices trembling, but unwavering.
Gowned healers sketch hope on prescription pads,
Their eyes reflecting the weight of a thousand storms.
Caregivers cradle exhaustion, hearts bold and bruised,
Volunteers sow comfort in the cracks of despair,
Friends become anchors, steady in the wild current.
Family wraps love around raw edges, unravelling fear.
Within every scar, a story etched – resilience, not defeat.
Together, they weave a tapestry of courage, woven from tears and laughter.
On this day, we honour warriors and witnesses, the unbreakable and the unsung.
If you feel like keeping track of Anne’s cancer journey, I’m chronicling it here:
