Anne has entered the end of life phase of her journey and is henceforth receiving palliative care
A journey that began on May 8 of this year with a diagnosis of glioblastoma, a particularly aggressive form of brain cancer, is entering a final phase.
My darling wife Anne will no longer be tethered to a schedule of merciless treatments. She will receive the steroids that had previously been withdrawn due to their long- term side effects.

The focus will be on improving her quality of life by managing all symptoms and side effects, whereas the chemotherapy and radiation aimed to treat or slow the progression of the cancer itself.
Yesterday Anne’s chemo and radiation specialists gave an official imprimatur to the approach that we had already chosen after Anne’s latest collapse and hospitalization.
We celebrated within our bubble of sorrow by devouring savoury fajitas in a local restaurant – Anne has the appetite of a lion when she’s not being bombarded by radiation and chemo! – and by loitering around our son’s backyard pool.

Ah Joanne…thanks so much for your kind words and for reading these little postings.
Big hugs,

I honestly don’t believe I’ve ever been as close to a journey of life and life’s darkest face. The both of you have taken us on your personal pilgrimage of so many emotions buried deep in the recesses of our hearts. I’m happy to say, some of these, I weren’t aware of, but I’m so happy they’ve been unearthed. Thank you for your honesty and trust. I’m happy you’ve felt comfortable to address this dreadful and loving scenario. Thank you with love and care.
Dean it is a joy to hear from you as always!
